Gosaikunda is an alpine freshwater lake that is situated at an altitude of 4380m. The lake remains frozen in winter. Its water is considered holy and large numbers of pilgrims visit every year. People of all ages enjoy this route. Gosaikunda lake is one of the preferred short trekking destinations in Nepal by Nepalese. It is also considered a great holiday adventure for those who seek refreshment while walking for only a few days.
The trekking route to Gosaikunda offers an experience of a variety of different landscapes along with multiple cultures along the way. On top of that, this route also offers a wide range of views of the Himalayas throughout, right from the day you start your trek. Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and Annapurna are among the peaks that you can view as far as you can see, depending on the weather! We can start this trek from either Dhunche or Sundarijal, however, it is highly recommended to follow via Sundarijal as it offers a wide range of variety both in terms of culture and panoramic views.
The large numbers of hotels and tea houses on this trek make this an enjoyable, refreshing leisure trip with the added beauty of the scenery and people of Nepal. It is not a difficult trek and has a wide variety of rich flora and fauna, which make it one of the most memorable treks available.
The devastating 2015 earthquake destroyed many parts of the route with a number of landslides along the way. However, the route is now well re-established and even better managed. Hotels and tea houses are ready to welcome new arrivals with a same friendly smiles on their faces.
